Dec 22

We spent the day at sea heading for the Amazon River.  We had 2 different lectures about the ecosystem and weird & wild creatures of the Amazon followed by a Brazilian BBQ lunch.  At 2pm our friend & trivia partner for many years, Dr. Cheryl Sprague, presented a talk on "Musical Quirks - a picturesque life, Beethoven's musical oddities and a mystery (partially) solved."  Cheryl is a passenger and not a paid lecturer, but had such good response with her talks on the crossing in November that they asked her to do it on this segment which has a lot of sea days.  We then attended a wine tasting featuring 4 South American wines followed by cup cake teatime and another convincing trivia win.  We listened to Nature's Rhythm in the lounge before joining the Captain, Daniel Greene, and another couple for dinner.  The show was the ship's cast doing Viva La Vida, a Latin themed performance.  Pat managed to break even in the casino at blackjack before we went to bed.
