Nov 2
We docked in Kotor, Montenegro and, since we had been here in June, we skipped an excursion and walked around on our own.  Montenegro isn't part of the EU but has never had its own currency so they use the Euro.  Kotor,s old city is walled and the wall goes a long way up the mountain side and a river runs along one side of the wall.  It's a very old city with many buildings from as early as 800AD still in use.  The streets are narrow and cobbled with open squares in various locations.  It's a very interesting city to walk and view the architecture.  We got off the ship around 10:00am and spent about 4 hours exploring the city.  In many ways it's similar to Dubrovnik, which is close by, but is much older.  Montenegro has quite a wine industry, produces cheese and is famous for its smoked & dried ham legs.  Under Communism it was quite prosperous because they exported much of their food & wine to not only other Communist countries but also to Western Europe.
