Nov 1
We had a rough sail overnight with 75 knot winds and 20 foot waves, but we slept through it easily. The Captain slowed the ship to lessen the discomfort so we were an hour late arriving in Dubrovnik, Croatia. We were here in June so we didn't take a tour and just walked around inside the walled medieval city and had lunch of soup and local fish. Dubrovnik was heavily attacked from above by the Serbians & Montenegrians on December 6, 1991 during the Bosnian War. Most of the rooftops within the walled city were destroyed by the mortars and have been rebuilt. The structures within the walls date from the 1300s and there are numerous narrow streets with shops & restaurants along them. The larger squares host churches. It was All Saint's Day so everything but restaurants closed at noon so they could go to church.
