It was another gorgeous sunny fall day in Bavaria with temperatures in the low 70s in the afternoon. We drove into Oberstaufen and spent a couple of hours exploring the town. It's Sunday so all the shops are closed but a lot of restaurants & beer gardens were filled with outdoor seating. This must be a really safe area because all the jewelry shops leave their wares in the windows. We found a beer garden behind a hotel and had a leisurely 1 1/2 + hour lunch. We then drove up some small mountain roads, barely wide enough for 2 cars to pass, and went past the ski lift area and into wooded areas. The views were spectacular and the cows in the fields all had cowbells which ring constantly ( we also hear them from our hotel room.) This is a big dairy area where Allgäu cheeses come from. Because of the splendid weekend weather, there were a lot of cars, motor bikes bicycles and hikers all around the area. We returned to our hotel and, since the restaurants in town close at 6:00pm, we sat outside our room and had some sausage & leftover pizza for dinner.
